The Imperial County Planning Commission approved Time Extension 250011 for Conditional Use Permit 99-0022, allowing a new 15-year term for an existing unmanned fiber‑optic regeneration facility at 672 Sidewinder Road.
Planner Luis Venezuela told the commission the parcel (assessor’s parcel number reported in the staff presentation) is designated Recreation/Open Space in the Imperial County General Plan and zoned C-2 (medium commercial). "After a thorough review of the project file and compliance report, it can be determined that CUP 99-0022 complies with the CUP's conditions of approval and applicable County Land Use Regulations," Venezuela said. Staff recommended the commission find the project categorically exempt from CEQA under the county-cited guideline for existing facilities and approve the time extension subject to existing conditions.
A project representative attended virtually and stated they had read and agreed with the project record. No public commenters spoken in opposition were recorded. A motion to approve the time extension carried on a roll-call vote with commissioners recorded in favor. The commission chair announced that appeals must be filed within the specified appeal period.
Staff said if approved the permit will be valid for successive three‑year intervals until March 8, 2030, when a new 15‑year term would be required under the schedule discussed in the staff report.
