Grayson County officials announced Tuesday that all county tax and motor vehicle offices will be closed on Tuesday, May 20, while staff receive training on a new tax-collection and motor-vehicle software system.

Mr. Statham informed the court that motor vehicle offices in Sherman, Denison, Van Alstyne and Whitesboro will reopen on Wednesday, May 21 for motor-vehicle transactions only. The Grayson County Tax Office in Sherman will remain closed until June to complete the conversion process and additional training; no tax payments can be processed in person at the Sherman office while it is closed.

County staff said each office has an outside lockbox that will be checked daily; payments placed in those lockboxes during the closure will be credited to taxpayers' accounts as having been paid on May 31 to avoid penalties for payments due at the end of May.

Staff asked that the closure notice be posted on the county website; the presenter indicated the notice already appeared online. The court did not record any formal vote on the announcement; it was presented as a public service announcement to residents.
