David Dutlinger, executive director of the Bluegrass ADD, said the grant will cover Woodford County residents impacted by the Yokohama layoffs and additional workers in nearby counties. Kevin Moore, who spoke for the ADD on technical details, said approximately 250 workers from Yokohama are affected and that the grant can fund individual training accounts, internships, apprenticeships and supports such as childcare and transportation.
Moore said the ADD will reach out to displaced workers after the July 4 holiday and encouraged anyone affected to contact the ADD’s career portal at www.ckycareers.com for details on eligibility and services. The ADD also said it can help organize job fairs and employer partnerships and use the funding for supportive services that lower barriers to employment.
Judge Kaye and county staff said they were working with local economic-development partners and the Woodford County Chamber of Commerce to direct affected workers to the ADD and to coordinate outreach.
No formal court vote was required for the announcement; the presentation was informational and the ADD staff said outreach would follow in coming weeks.
