The Board of Mayor and Aldermen voted 7-0 on May 20 to approve an amendment to agreement number 19096 with the Tennessee Department of Transportation to extend the completion date for the West End Greenbelt Extension Project to December 30, 2027.

City staff said the project is MPO-funded and will proceed through design, right-of-way acquisition, any necessary utility relocation and then construction. The resolution authorizes the mayor to execute the amendment and related documents.

Alderman Baker moved the resolution; Alderman Phillips seconded. Board members voted unanimously to approve the extension so design and other preparation work can continue without the original completion deadline constraining scheduling.

Staff said the extension is a procedural step to accommodate the timeline of a multi-stage project and did not change the project scope in the amendment presented to the board.
