Organizers at the Hubbardston Senior Center reviewed a slate of outreach programs and educational presentations for the fall, and discussed a multi-day trip to Lancaster, Pa., that includes Sight & Sound Theater and a Dutch Apple dinner show.
Members listed a Medicare-focused presentation by a speaker named Mike set for mid-October (Oct. 15 was cited) and said Blue Cross Blue Shield representatives are planned to visit Nov. 25. The group acknowledged inconsistencies in speaker identification and said details would be confirmed before promotion.
On trips, volunteers described a Lancaster package that includes two shows, touring and meals, and quoted a price of $655 per person covering transportation, show tickets and some meals. The trip organizer said she was working through a waiting list and collecting final payments from participants.
Outreach items included recurring program contacts and thank-you notes to donors of produce and supplies. Members discussed bringing cards and visits to a local resident in a Worcester program and to other seniors who are homebound, using volunteers to make phone calls and deliver notices.
The group also reviewed the Friends committee’s scholarship work and said the committee has had member turnover; the friends will continue scholarship awards but will scale back event activity unless new volunteers join the scholarship/“cash” committee.
