Crown Point City Council adopted its fiscal year 2026 budget on Oct. 23, approving document 2025-09-24 by a 6-0 roll call vote.

The budget adoption was the only item on the council's agenda. A council member moved to adopt budget number 2025-09-24; a second was given and no discussion followed before the roll call.

Council members Scott Bork, Zach Bryant, Andrew Curtis, Bob Clemens, Joe Sanders and Council President Chang'e all voted yes. The tally announced in the meeting was "6 yeses." The meeting record does not name the motion's seconder.

City staff said the next step is to submit the approved budget package to the state. "It depends on when we get the notice. So what we'll do is since this is approved now, we'll have you sign the form," a staff member said, adding that the submission goes to the Department of Local Government Finance and that "they will send us a 1782 notice sometime around December ... so that we can start utilizing it Jan. 1." The staff member also said a staff person named Julie would accompany them to submit the forms.

There were no additional substantive items during the miscellaneous portion of the session; council members signed required paperwork after the meeting and then moved to adjourn.

The council did not discuss line-item spending in the public meeting record provided; the staff explanation at the session supplied the procedural timing for state review and the expected December notice that authorizes use of the adopted budget starting Jan. 1.
