The Spanish Fort City Council on Oct. 6 approved a $1,975,044.50 contract for site improvements at Valor Park, authorized submission of a federal Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) application and approved an annual maintenance contract for the city’s backup generators.
The council voted to award the Valor Park contract to APAC Alabama Inc. after staff reported APAC was the lowest responsible, responsive bidder and included a bid tabulation and proposed contract with the resolution. Council members voted unanimously to adopt resolution 1559-2025 to approve the award.
Council also moved to suspend rules and adopt a resolution authorizing the mayor and police chief to submit an application to the Edward Byrne Memorial JAG program for up to $50,000 to purchase equipment, including additional cameras and in-vehicle Wi-Fi infrastructure for police cruisers. The suspension and adoption were approved by roll call.
