County staff told commissioners Wednesday that the shooting range budget remains roughly the same as last year at about $52,000 and that the department will continue lease discussions with stakeholders.
Staff said recent capital work at the range included two trap house expansions, restroom improvements with water and electrical service, paving of parking areas and perimeter fence repairs. The facility saw about 5,400 visitors through June 2025, staff reported.
Why it matters: The shooting range is a county‑owned recreational facility with an existing lease that expires at the end of the year; staff said they will meet with the Game and Anglers and other county departments and hope to return to the Board with a plan in the coming weeks.
Operational costs in the $52,000 budget cover utilities, garbage service, minor maintenance and occasional county staff work such as fence repair or rock/gravel maintenance. Staff said no capital improvements are planned for the immediate budget cycle.
Ending: Staff expected to bring a lease recommendation to the Board after upcoming stakeholder meetings.
