The Morgan County Planning Commission on Oct. 23 approved a conditional use permit to allow a rear-mounted sign for Mountain Green Animal Hospital at 5714 West Canyon View Circle.
Planning staff told the commission that the property is zoned Highway Commercial (CH) and that Morgan County sign code (section 155.368) allows rear-mounted signs only with planning commission approval. Staff recommended approval, saying the application meets the code’s minimum requirements.
The applicant, identified in the meeting packet as Bridal Sorensen, was present. Commission members asked whether the sign’s illumination would remain on overnight; staff member Jeremy said the county code requires illuminated signs to be turned off after 10:00 p.m. or one hour after closing, whichever is later, so the sign should be switched off approximately one hour after the veterinary clinic closes.
Member Wilson moved to approve CUP25.008 based on the findings and conditions in the staff report dated Oct. 23, 2025; Member King seconded. The motion carried unanimously.
The file will be closed once the sign permit for the front of the building—already approved by staff—is finalized and the rear sign is permitted and installed in compliance with the staff conditions.
Details recorded in the staff report and cited at the meeting govern the permit conditions; staff indicated they will close the remaining open sign-permit paperwork when the rear sign approval is finalized.
