Fort Myers Beach — The Bay Oaks Recreational Campus Advisory Board (BORCAB) elected new leadership and approved minutes at its meeting on Oct. 22.

Leadership changes

The board nominated and approved new officers by voice vote. The meeting record shows a nomination for Michelle Cherny to serve as chair (nomination seconded by a board member) and a nomination for Joy Sullivan to serve as vice chair; both appointments were approved unanimously on voice votes. Following the vote, the newly elected chair ran the remainder of the meeting.

Minutes approved with corrections

The board also approved the minutes of the Sept. 17 meeting after two small edits to the public-comment section. Members asked staff to correct a misspelled speaker name and to fix the spelling of a board member's name, after which the board voted to approve the corrected minutes by voice vote.

What this means

The motions were procedural and passed unanimously; there were no recorded roll-call tallies in the meeting minutes other than voice votes. The board then continued with the staff report and substantive agenda items.
