Trustees received a building-committee update and a bond construction preview at the Oct. 16 board meeting. Committee members reported progress on schedule and communications with the general contractor; district staff described upcoming site and foundation work and said the tower crane will be erected by the end of the month to protect trees.

Building-committee members said the committee discussed schedule, communications and project control; the committee requested that project-control staff copy trustees on meeting minutes with the general contractor. "We went through a lot. We met about schedule. We met about communication, project control," Trustee Clay said. Committee members said they felt the project is "on schedule" and that members were "in a good place" on cost and progress.

Trustees and staff also discussed the general-contractor Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) — a figure mentioned in committee conversation (committee referenced a GMP of approximately $90 million). The building committee reported monitoring schedule and budget and said more frequent communications would follow.

In superintendent communications, staff said foundation and utility work will start later in October and that main construction is expected to begin in January. Staff noted that a tower crane will be used on site and suggested highlighting that choice publicly as a tree-protection measure. Trustees also heard routine bond design updates for Cambridge and Woodridge, with renderings anticipated for a December board meeting.

No formal action was taken on the GMP or construction contracts during the meeting; the update was informational.
