The Rockport City Council approved an AIA A104-2017 agreement with DLF2 Inc. for a not-to-exceed amount of $61,370.75 to install conduit and fiber linking municipal facilities.

Staff told council the original scope a year ago was for conduit alone at an estimated $20,000 for the city’s portion. The scope grew to include fiber in the conduit and a decision to put more of the route underground; because utilities are congested in parts of the route, contractors will use hydro excavation. The city’s portion covers the conduit and fiber from the detention center to city hall and from city hall to the community center; the county will pay portions tied to the courthouse and radio tower runs.

City staff said funds are available in the current project budget and no additional transfers are required. The presenter described the revised price as “just under 62,000 for our portion only,” and the council voted unanimously to approve the contract.

Outcome: Motion to approve the contract with DLF2 Inc. carried unanimously (Ward 1–4 and mayor recorded as aye). The city will coordinate with the county on their share of the work and billing.
