Parks staff reported progress on multiple capital projects and routine maintenance items during the Paddock Board meeting, including completed sign fabrication, work on tennis courts, and irrigation planning for athletic fields.
Raelynn, who presented the parks update, said the signage fabrication was completed on Dec. 6 and the city was awaiting deliveries and scheduled installations — which will include concrete pads. “So we have been doing purchase January 20th, so we're pushing for a February 10th,” Raelynn told the board while describing delivery and installation timing.
Tennis courts: Board members asked about the long lead time for tennis-court construction. Staff clarified that the Parks Department has handled contractor scheduling and that municipal staff supports procurement and vendor contact; the parks team will continue to provide monthly updates.
Irrigation and soccer fields: The board reviewed an allocation of $100,000 for irrigation for soccer fields. Staff said bids are being solicited and recommended action (bid results and council recommendation) could be ready in January to allow construction starting in February so work completes before the spring season.
Christmas lights and Wi‑Fi: Staff said Encore has completed most meter installations for holiday lighting but two meters remained to be released; full activation is needed before the system’s Wi‑Fi color controls are operational. Staff reported daily follow-up with the vendor to resolve the remaining meter and inspection issues.
Other items: There was no substantive update on the BMT Center during the meeting. The parks and facilities items were presented as progress reports; no funding or contract awards were approved at the session.
Next steps: Staff will return with bid results for irrigation and with confirmed delivery/installation dates for the signage and tennis-court work.
