District leaders told the board the recent Christmas Tree Jubilee fundraiser raised nearly $300,000 and will fully fund teen centers at the district’s high schools, plus grants for special needs activities and school projects.
Emily, the district foundation director, told the board the live auction raised about $20,000 more than the previous year and that the total fundraising ask this year approached $300,000. “This will for sure be our highest earning year that we've had ever with Christmas tree jubilee. And with that, we will be able to make sure all of the teen centers are funded and paid for and open to support our students,” she said.
Separately, a district official asked the board to formally recognize a longtime staffer's association with a small room in the district office. The official proposed placing a plaque and naming the room the Dr. Peterson Memorial Laboratory and Tower to honor the staff member’s contributions. The proposer said the placard will be placed near the door as a tribute.
Board members made no formal motions on the fundraiser or the room naming at the study session; both items were informational.
