At its Dec. 18 meeting, the board reviewed a branch library checklist and discussed facility issues that staff said remain unresolved or are under repair.

Staff reported that the staff elevator serving the second floor of the main library is functioning but a requested employee-only bypass has not been installed; a staff member said, “the staff elevator for the 2nd floor is still a matching thing fixed... The only thing we were trying to do is do a bypass for only employee only.” Members also were told the main library public-address system replacement is complete and “is working.”

Multiple participants raised continuing leak problems at the Moss branch. One speaker said Moss had repairs but “every time it rains, we might get a little surprised,” and the board discussed asking public works to return to pursue a longer-term fix. Staff also reported ongoing problems with interior flagpole pulleys that have required repeated visits from public works; a member suggested bringing a different contractor.

The checklist further noted certain pending installations (a telephone charging station outside another branch) and that some items remain on a wish list. No formal repairs or contract awards were approved at the meeting; the board directed staff to continue follow-up with public works and vendors and to report back as repairs proceed.
