City staff asked the Odessa City Council on Nov. 24 to table an application to the Texas Water Development Fund for a planned water tower because the city’s audited financial statements were not available.

Alex (staff presenter) told council the Texas Water Development Board will not consider the city’s application until the city’s 2023 audit is complete and said the board also requested the 2024 audit; because those audits were not yet in hand the application must be submitted next year, Alex said. The proposed water tower would sit on a lot near 100th Street and Evans and would provide water east to Padre and supply the sports complex, Alex said.

Council voted to table the matter until the audits are complete and staff can resubmit. A motion to table carried on a voice vote.
