The Walton County Design Review Board on Jan. 7 approved a building sign for the TownePlace Suites by Marriott on the south side of Scenic Gulf Drive in District 4.

Planning and development staff entered the application into the record, describing a building sign measuring 286.25 inches by 41.25 inches (about 82 square feet) on a 1.55-acre property zoned Coastal Center. Tim Brown, Planning and Development, said the application was complete and offered to answer questions.

Board members asked no substantive questions and no member of the public spoke on the item. A board member moved to approve the application, a second was recorded, and the board voted in favor. The motion passed.

The board noted the applicant also proposed a monument sign that had not been advertised and will be considered at a later meeting.

The board's approval covers only the building sign as presented; the monument sign will return for separate consideration.
