The council voted to approve an updated city administrator job description presented by Leon, the city administrator, who said he compiled samples from 10 Idaho cities and used them as a basis to rewrite his position 27s duties.
Leon told the council he reviewed job descriptions from municipalities including Post Falls, Coeur d 27Alene, Hayden, Ammon, Idaho Falls and Twin Falls and incorporated feedback from department heads and staff. The rewrite moves several duties and clarifies that some human-resources responsibilities would transfer to a future HR director if that position is created.
Council members discussed language about agenda creation and oversight; Leon described his role as coordinating department heads and ensuring necessary documentation for council packets. The mayor had requested a separate line to list "major project manager as assigned by the mayor and council." Leon said that responsibility would be handled on a project-by-project basis.
A motion to adopt the revised job description was made and seconded; the council voted to approve the updated job description.
