Board approves purchase of 2.4-acre tract next to Livingston Virtual School in Walker

The board approved the purchase of a 2.4-acre tract of land adjacent to the Livingston Virtual School (southeastern center) in Walker.

Board member Cecil Harris recommended acquiring the parcel after a prior proposal to develop the site as apartments had been denied; trustees said the property was being offered at a price below estimated market value and that the location is strategic given growth in the area. A trustee noted that the adjacent southeastern center property will revert to the Livingston Parish School System after 2027, which increases the district’s interest in controlling neighboring parcels for future campus expansion.

After discussion, the board approved the purchase by motion and voice vote. Trustees instructed staff to proceed with the purchase process and title work.
