Sen. Jeff David Reitman was sworn into the Iowa Senate during a floor session, repeating the constitutional oath and pledging to ‘‘support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of Iowa’’ and to ‘‘faithfully discharge the duties of [his] position to the best of [his] ability.’’

The oath was administered on the Senate floor by the presiding officer, and Reitman recited the pledge aloud. After the oath, the presiding officer congratulated the senator and the chamber moved on to messages from the House.

The swearing-in formally completed Reitman’s assumption of the duties of a state senator; no roll-call or additional action related to the oath was recorded on the transcript.
