The City of Warren council approved three items discussed in closed session and several routine licenses, appointments and budget adjustments.
Settlements: The council approved a proposed settlement in the matter of James Rush v. City of Warren, Macomb County Circuit Court (case no. 2023‑004248), approved a settlement in Deborah Hutchison v. City of Warren Senior Housing Commission (case no. 2024‑002029), and approved a proposed pre‑litigation settlement in the Wenzel matter. Each settlement was moved and adopted by recorded vote; the council cited closed‑session discussions and voted to authorize the settlements pursuant to the terms discussed in closed session.
Licenses and appointments: the council renewed ambulance licenses for MedStar Ambulance and Universal Macomb Ambulance Service for operation within the city; it appointed Michael Wiegand to the Downtown Development Authority (term to June 30, 2028); it reappointed two council members to the Land Bank Authority Board; and it appointed Councilmember Newnan to the Planned Unit Development committee. The council also approved reappointments and other routine board appointments listed in the packet and approved budget adjustments and purchases in the sanitation and police departments as listed in the agenda.
Votes at a glance: each settlement and license motion passed by recorded roll call during the Jan. 14 meeting. The city clerk will file the executed settlement documents and the administrative staff will implement the personnel and license updates.
Notes: Because these items were discussed in closed session, the council limited public discussion at the open meeting to motions to adopt the settlements as presented.
