Supervisor Smati reported that the Lake County Continuum of Care and the Lake County Community Foundation have been meeting to pursue grant funding beyond the usual behavioral-health sources to help people experiencing homelessness.
"We continue to try and secure other grant funding, that is, not the typical grant funding that's, been made available through behavioral health," Supervisor Smati said during the calendar reports. She described periodic check-ins between the two organizations to identify other funding streams and approaches to support people living on the streets.
Smati said the effort is part of a broader push to find additional resources; she mentioned planned meetings with special districts and the county chief administrative officer (CAO) and said the group is exploring options to expand services. No specific grants, funding amounts or award timelines were disclosed in the calendar remarks.
The supervisor also described continued local coordination through the Lake County Food Policy Council and noted a recent interview on a National Association of Counties (NACo) podcast about the county’s food-policy work. The calendar report did not record a formal vote or an approved grant application during the meeting; officials characterized the work as ongoing coordination and fundraising efforts.
