Senator von Valkenburg presented SB 1015, which would codify into statute the authority for chiropractors to recommend vitamins, minerals and food supplements to patients. The sponsor said the authority previously existed in regulation but was at risk of removal as part of a regulatory reduction process; placing the authority in statute would remove ambiguity.
A representative of the Chiropractic Association testified in support, describing concern about the “gray area” if the regulatory language were removed and asking for the committee's support to keep the current practice in place. No opposition was recorded.
The subcommittee moved and seconded to recommend SB 1015 to the full committee. Roll call recorded Senators Jennifer Boisco, Todd Pillion, Senator Bagby (aye by proxy), Chris Head, Stella Pekarski and Ghazala Hashmi voting in favor; the motion passed.
