The California State Assembly on Jan. 16 completed several procedural and ceremonial actions on the daily file.
The Assembly adopted Assembly Concurrent Resolution 11, which designates the week as Anesthesiologist Week. Assemblymember Aarons presented the resolution; the clerk opened the co-author roll and recorded 66 co-authors on the measure. After co-authors were recorded, the body took a voice vote and the speaker announced the resolution was adopted.
Later in the day, during the extraordinary session proceedings, the majority leader moved to order SP1 and SP2 by Senator Wiener to the second reading file. An objection from Assemblymember Flora led to a roll-call vote. The clerk recorded Ayes 59, Nos 15; the motion carried and the items were placed on the second reading file.
At the request of an author, the Assembly moved AB 5 to the inactive file; the clerk noted the request on the floor.
Other routine business included convening the first extraordinary session and the body subsequently returning to the regular session and adjourning upon the speaker's call. The journal will include the names listed for adjournments in memory and guest introductions recorded on the floor.
