Senator Hayes announced that the Oklahoma Tax Commission will hold an appropriations briefing 15 minutes after the Senate adjourns, in Room 535, to explain how the numbers in the Board of Equalization report were calculated.
“They will be explaining how the numbers are arrived related to the Board of Equalization report. So it’ll be good information, to hear,” Senator Hayes said on the Senate floor. Hayes added that, to her knowledge, this was the first time the Tax Commission had offered such a briefing immediately after a Senate session.
Later in the same session, Senator Daniels moved that “when the clerk's desk is clear, the Senate stand adjourn until Monday, February 10 at 01:30PM.” The presiding officer put the question to a voice vote; the clerk recorded the result as the ayes prevailing and the Senate stood adjourned until the date and time specified.
The Tax Commission briefing was announced as informational and intended to explain the methodology behind recent revenue estimates and the Board of Equalization report; the transcript did not record additional details about attendees, briefing materials, or whether the briefing will be open to the public beyond senators.
