Representatives of the Utah Falcons and Women’s Excellence for Life presented a request to the appropriations subcommittee for $147,000 in one-time funding to support program growth, community outreach and youth development in women’s football.
Kim Krenke, former player and assistant coach who is a board member of Women’s Excellence for Life, described the organization’s four-pillar program (leadership, life skills, personal finances and self-worth education) and said the Falcons have a strong competitive record and local outreach footprint. Councilmember Vail Lopez Chavez (presenting for the group) summarized participation and demographic metrics cited by presenters: 37 percent of athletes are mothers; 45 percent are college graduates; more than 500 people are reached with community outreach annually; 10 percent of players are military veterans; and 14 percent of the roster are Asian/Pacific Islander.
The presenters emphasized local economic activity and community impact tied to camps, clinics and outreach programs. The transcript shows no committee appropriation vote on the RFA during the Feb. 7 meeting; the RFA will be considered in prioritization.
