The Trophy Club Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval of a specific use permit allowing on‑site pouring of beer and wine at the Hampton Inn by Hilton Trophy Club, 525 Plaza Drive, after a brief public hearing and staff presentation.

The commission’s action would change the hotel’s current permit so alcohol may be poured and consumed on the property — in this case through a small, vending‑style dispensing unit in the hotel lobby — rather than only allowing customers to buy sealed containers to take off site. Staff recommended the change, and no members of the public spoke for or against the request during the hearing.

Planning staff member Matt told commissioners the hotel already holds an alcohol license and seeks to add “a small kind of a beer style — think of, like, a vending machine almost — to where people could just walk up” and obtain beer or wine in the lobby. He said the change required the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission to alter the permit from off‑premise to both on‑ and off‑premise because the product would be poured and consumed on the premises.

Matt said the application complies with town and state requirements. Staff reported the nearest church is about 4,000 feet away and the nearest school is more than 5,000 feet away. Notices were published and distributed under the town ordinances and the Texas Government Code, and staff said it had received no letters, calls or emails expressing support or opposition.

The presiding officer opened the public hearing at 6:01 p.m., announced there were no speakers, closed the hearing at 6:03 p.m. and opened the item for board discussion. Commissioner Jablinski moved to approve Case SUP‑25 for the Hampton Inn; the motion was seconded and the presiding officer called the vote. The presiding officer announced the motion passed, saying “All in favor?… Motion passes.”

The commission also approved the planning and zoning minutes from the Dec. 12, 2024 meeting by motion and voice vote.

The commission’s approval is a recommendation to the Trophy Club Town Council, which will take final action on the specific use permit at a later meeting.
