Iroquois County facilities staff reported ongoing maintenance at the courthouse, jail and administrative center, including biannual generator servicing, a prior hydraulic-cylinder replacement in an elevator and upcoming parking-lot sealcoating and striping.
The committee heard that Metro Power performed full service on all three county generators this past month — the units serving the courthouse, jail and the 911 center — and that the vendor responds for smaller repairs as needed. A staff member said elevator annual pressure tests will be witnessed by a third party so the county can obtain the required annual certification cards. “It’s pretty much done and ready,” the staff member said of the new administrative office at the end of the hall.
Staff described a water-main break near 10th Street that led to a handful of plumbing issues at the courthouse and jail. The county has been replacing an aging electronic fob access system and plans to install emergency-lighting fixtures with battery backup where required. County maintenance also plans hot crack sealing, a full seal coat and striping of the administrative center parking lot later this summer as a capital-improvement project.
Committee members discussed standby power for several county buildings, noting that ARPA allocations have been used and that a full standby generator would require an additional funding decision. Staff said smaller portable units and transfer switches are used at some sites but recommended further assessment before buying a separate permanent generator for buildings such as the maintenance shed or jail.
The report closed with routine housekeeping updates and the committee’s acknowledgment that work will continue on small repairs and capital projects.
