The Bossier Parish School Board voted to name the Haughton High School football field "Prescott Field," following a recommendation from the district's facility naming committee.

The committee presented its recommendation during the board's regular session after being convened under the board's 2013 facility-naming policy. Andrea Spinney, assistant superintendent of administration, told the board the committee ranked three names and the name with the most votes was "Prescott Field." "The committee felt like, that that he had been, obviously, a reputable player, for Haughton High School and went on to play college ball and professional football, and he's just been a great role model in the community," Spinney said.

David Haney, principal at Haughton High School, said Dak Prescott's Faith, Fight, Finish Foundation has made repeated contributions to the school. Haney said the foundation donates backpacks and school supplies for needy students, contributes to a scholarship fund and supports the school's audio/PA system for athletic events. He told the board the school has not hosted the last youth clinics since the COVID-19 pandemic: he said the last camp occurred before COVID and none have been held since.

Several board members asked whether Prescott's foundation had made a direct donation tied to the naming. Spinney confirmed the Faith, Fight, Finish Foundation recently made a contribution to Haughton High School. Board member Kent Bachhaus expressed reservations about the timing and the precedent of naming athletic facilities after non-employees, saying "the timing is a little bit bad right now" given the recent deaths of two longtime coaches and that those coaches had spent decades at the school.

Spinney responded that plans to honor the coaches exist and that the naming recommendation originated from committee work that began during the previous summer. After discussion, a motion to approve the facility name was made by Ms. Brotherton and seconded by Ms. Darby.
