Mifflin County commissioners on Jan. 1 approved routine financial reports and a series of appointments and personnel actions, including payment of county bills and the appointment of two members to the Midland County Housing Authority.
The board voted to pay accounts payable of $561,811.53 and payroll totaling $464,816.15; the treasurer reported an ending general-account balance of $906,220.31 for the reporting period and a capital reserve balance of $11,686,857.69. The board approved a motion to exonerate the 2024 per-capita portion of county taxes for all townships under Tax code 53. Commissioners then moved to confirm two appointments to the Midland County Housing Authority: Chelsea Reed for a five-year term and Mikayla Mills to fill an unexpired term ending Dec. 31, 2025. The board reappointed Case Semler, Dan Dunmire and Daniel Firths to the Midland County Planning Commission for four-year terms.
Commissioners Postal and Wise were appointed to the Central County Youth Detention Center board. The board also approved a package of personnel items: the resignations of Addison Lane (part-time correction officer), Tammy Wagner (youth office manager), Todd Fink (part-time corrections officer) and Madison Brensinger (field assessor); the hiring of Anne Kennedy for court staff (effective Jan. 28) and Brian Fliegel as a part-time 911 telecommunicator (effective Jan. 13); the promotion of Joshua Pennevega from 911 telecommunicator to 911 manager (effective Dec. 29, 2024); and the transfer of Susie Stolmacher from full-time to part-time 911 telecommunicator (effective Jan. 5). All personnel items were approved as a group.
Most motions were brought, seconded and approved by voice vote with all commissioners saying “aye.” No recorded dissent or individual roll-call tallies were provided in the meeting minutes presented during the session. The board completed the listed agenda items and adjourned the meeting.
