Delegate Patterson opened the Feb. 7 Charles County Delegation meeting by calling attention to “district night last night,” saying, “It was a great — we had great attendance, and I think it went really well,” and asking colleagues for suggestions for next year.

Delegation members said the event drew a larger-than-expected crowd and praised staff and volunteers. “You guys did awesome,” Patterson said, thanking named staff including Kara and Ari. Several participants said a county-provided bus or district-sponsored buses would help attendance and ease parking problems; one participant said other districts had used buses in prior years.

The group discussed holding next year’s district night in the House office building and noted room-size needs. Arielle (staff) said that if the event were held in the House building they would likely need both rooms 180 and 170 to accommodate attendees. Members also discussed reserving the rooms early and exploring bus vendors; Delegate Patterson said Diana Fennell had referred a contact and that Dr. Pena Melnick had been suggested as a referral for bus logistics.

Delegates praised staff for logistical support at check-in and food service. The delegation set a planning direction: staff should research bus options, reserve larger space in the House building, and circulate suggested changes for next year’s event; no formal vote or binding commitment was recorded in the transcript.
