The Charles County Delegation on Feb. 7 reviewed five bills the delegation filed and cross-filed and informally assigned members to shepherd each through the House.
Delegate Patterson listed the bills as “the stadium beverage bill, the gaming review board bill, the ATV/unregistered motor vehicles bill, the HOA bill, and the school bus bill,” and asked members to volunteer to handle them in House committees. Delegates agreed that the gaming review board bill would be handled by Delegate Patterson in Ways and Means; the unregistered motor vehicles and ATV bill was offered to another member with support from Delegate Harris; the school bus bill was assigned to Daniel (first name only in the transcript); and the stadium beverage bill was proposed for Terron to present.
Patterson said most of the bills fall in the chair’s committee and that the chair had indicated he may hold local bills until later in the session. Danielle Mitchell, legal counsel to Charles County government, will help coordinate witnesses; Patterson said the delegation would send dates to Mitchell for scheduling. Delegates also noted that one local proposal — officers making county — “did not make the cut” as drafted and that an 8-year term-limits proposal lacked local support and was not forwarded.
No formal roll-call votes were taken; assignments were made by consensus in the meeting and will be followed up through committee scheduling and staff coordination.
