Miss D'Grath, special services staff, presented the district’s Indicator 14 (post‑school outcomes) results and process during the Feb. 10 meeting.
She said the district contacted 44 graduates from the May 2023 cohort who had Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in effect at graduation and completed 32 interviews, yielding a 72% response rate. "We completed 32 interviews. We got 72% of results," Miss D'Grath said, noting the state views that as a strong outcome.
The nut graf: Indicator 14 measures the percent of youth with IEPs who, within one year of leaving secondary school, are enrolled in higher education, are competitively employed, or are enrolled in post‑secondary education or certification programs. Miss D'Grath reported that of the 32 contacted graduates, eight were enrolled in two‑ or four‑year higher education; an additional 11 met the competitive employment criteria. A further group counted toward post‑secondary enrollment included vocational certifications.
She described operational lessons learned: the district found direct teacher outreach and using cell phone numbers improved contact rates compared with third‑party call centers. Miss D'Grath said the district plans to collect contact information before graduates leave and to involve special education staff more directly in outreach.
Board members asked about timing and whether calls could be made before the state’s data‑entry window; Miss D'Grath said calls could be made earlier and stored for later entry when the state system opens.
No formal action was required; the item was informational and focused on data collection and follow‑up strategies.
