The Shawnee Heights Board of Education approved renewal of its Cisco Smart Net support and licensing agreement, and staff reported the district switched vendors to Logicalis, which reduced the renewal cost relative to the previous vendor.
IT staff explained Cisco Smart Net covers support and licensing for firewalls, wireless controllers, switches and other network equipment. District staff said they removed a few aging devices from support lists because replacement cost was lower than continued support. The presenter said switching from ConvergentOne to Logicalis produced a modest savings: “it actually come in about a thousand dollars less to go with Logicalis than it did to go with C1,” according to the transcript.
The motion to approve the Cisco Smart Net renewal carried with a recorded tally of 6 yes and 1 no.
Board members discussed no substantive changes to service coverage in the meeting record; the recorded discussion focused on vendor change, cost and that many of the same technicians moved from the previous vendor to Logicalis.
