The Lakeville Select Board voted to create a Town Hall Building Reuse Subcommittee to explore options for the existing Town Hall building after the town’s approved fire station project moves forward.

Board members said they want a formal committee to examine all reuse options — from converting living quarters to offices to partial demolition and reconfiguration — and to return a draft charge and committee makeup for the board to vote on at a future meeting. The town administrator said he will prepare a draft charge by the Feb. 24 meeting using elements from reuse committees the town has used in the past, including the library reuse subcommittee.

The board approved a motion to create the subcommittee and agreed the town administrator will assemble sample charges from nine or 10 other municipalities to inform a draft. The chair asked that a draft be ready for the Feb. 24 meeting or, at the latest, the March meeting. No membership list was adopted at the Feb. 10 meeting; the decision on makeup will be returned to the board for a formal vote.
