The superintendent told the Rowan County School Board that the governor announced coverage for a previously projected SEEK funding shortfall and announced district-sponsored free sports physicals.

In the superintendent’s report at the Feb. 13 meeting, the superintendent said the district had expected to lose up to $80,000 under a SEEK shortfall estimate but that the governor announced coverage of that amount. The superintendent said other state funding lines beyond SEEK remain under discussion and that the Kentucky Department of Education may pursue additional allocations if extra money becomes available.

The superintendent also said the district will provide free sports physicals for students in grades 2–12 on Monday, Feb. 17, at Rowan County Senior High School. The announcement included the grade range and date; staff asked interested families to note the logistics.
