The Parks and Recreation Commission said the new playground at Trey Park is holding up after recent rains and approved $1,100 to fabricate an illuminated name panel to display donor names and memorial plaques.
Commissioners reviewed inspection timing and surface drainage. "Our next inspection is this Thursday, the thirteenth at 11 a.m.," one commissioner noted; staff reported the playground did not flood significantly and that a few muddy spots were easy to clean.
The commission reviewed a signage proposal from Sinerama. Staff said most mounting materials were already on hand and that Sinerama would apply names to a white plexiglass panel with LED backlighting. Holly, a Sinerama representative, had supplied mock-up photos and a quote included in the packet; staff said the vendor could complete the work in less than a month.
Commissioner discussion covered the size and placement of about 18 small name plates, risks of vandalism, and an alternative plan to offer unclaimed plaques at community events on a trailer so residents could retrieve them. After discussion, a motion to purchase the sign for about $1,100 carried by voice vote.
The item approved covers the cost of producing the name panel and adding the names to the plexiglass; staff said only LEDs and minor electrical work would be needed in addition to materials on hand.
Staff said they would notify the vendor and coordinate installation once names were finalized.
