Supervisors pressed county staff for better access to committee materials and county records, and staff said technical work and a larger records-management project are underway but will take time.
Supervisor Veil said committee members had previously tested laptops versus iPads for viewing files and requested an update on whether laptops would be issued more broadly. County IT and clerk staff explained the challenge: the current meeting/document software is not available on the county's Windows laptops without new server and security configuration, and the county is migrating its mobile device management software, which complicates making a quick change.
Staff pointed to near-term tools that committee members can use, including the county website search function and file sync options, and said a new meeting-management/web page rollout is imminent. "When we do that, the way that you view your documents will change to a web based owner," one staff member said, explaining the hope that a web-based view and Tyler content manager will simplify access once implemented.
Clerk and IT staff said a comprehensive records-retention and digitization effort is part of their 2025 work plan but cautioned that the county's bandwidth is limited because of other major projects, including the Tyler migration. No formal action was taken; staff will continue technical work and report back as milestones are reached.
