Interim administration asks committee for patience while prioritizing major projects; contingency funding not specified

County administration staff told the Finance Standing Committee they are focused on maintaining operations while addressing several major projects and are not yet able to quantify a request for contingency resources.

Interim administrators said they have identified needs for finance and human-resources policy work but that those needs are not yet scoped into firm dollar requests. "What I need is, like, $2,000,000 and a staff of 30, but that's not gonna happen," one interim administrator said to illustrate the breadth of needs. He added that the county has reached out to County Mutual for policy support and that resources exist to help develop policies and procedures.

Speakers asked for "grace, patience and understanding" from supervisors while staff prioritize work on the biggest projects. The committee did not set aside contingency funds at this meeting; staff said they will return with specific, justified requests if/when they can quantify costs and scope.
