BOISE — During its Feb. 17, 2025, session the Idaho State Senate completed roll call, approved corrections to the journal and processed committee reports that referred multiple bills to committees and calendars for later action.
The secretary announced 34 senators present with one absent and excused, establishing a quorum. The Senate read and approved the corrected journal for Feb. 14, 2025, and then advanced through several orders of business to consider committee reports, introductions and calendar placements.
The judiciary and rules committee reported that Senate bills "1106, 1107, 1108, 1109, 1110 and 1111" had been correctly printed; the floor directed Senate bills 1106–1110 be referred to the finance committee and Senate Bill 1111 to the state affairs committee. The state affairs committee reported House Bill 34 and Senate Bill 1103 with a recommendation they pass; both were placed on the second-reading calendar. Senate Bill 1080 was reported out by state affairs for referral to the general calendar for possible amendment.
The committee also reported that the gubernatorial appointment of Dane Hardy to the Public Utilities Commission (term to expire Jan. 31, 2031) had been considered; the committee recommended confirmation and the matter was referred to the tenth order of business and held for one legislative day.
On introduction, Senate Bill 1112, described on the floor as revising provisions related to solid waste disposal and county authority, was referred to the judiciary and rules committee for printing. The House-transmitted House Bill 231, described as changes to food tax credits and refunds, was referred to the local government and taxation committee.
Senator Shippey asked that Senate Bill 1034 be moved to the fourteenth order for possible amendment; the request was granted. Senator Harris asked that House Bill 41 be held at the secretary’s desk pending a sponsor; that motion was also granted. The floor announced tentative plans to take up amendments in the fourteenth order on Thursday and reminded members to submit amendments to the bill-drafting office.
The session concluded with a motion to adjourn; the Senate agreed and recessed until 11 a.m. on Feb. 18, 2025.
