The Senate Industry and Business Committee voted 5-0 to recommend a do-not-pass on Senate Bill 2394, a measure relating to association community bylaws and boards of directors.

The committee recorded a motion of “do not pass” moved by Senator Michael Klein and seconded by Senator Laura Kessel. The roll call recorded the following votes in favor of the recommendation: Senator Cline (Aye), Senator Kessel (Aye), Senator Angott (Aye), the vice chair (Aye) and Chairman Barta (Aye). The clerk announced a 5-0 do-not-pass recommendation.

Committee members briefly described the motion as responsive to prior work on the subject. Senator Klein said he had spoken with the bill’s introducer and that an earlier measure already addressed overlapping concerns; he moved a do-not-pass recommendation following that conversation.

No formal amendments to the bill were adopted during that item of the hearing. The clerk noted Senator Klein will carry the bill’s disposition forward.

The committee then moved on to other agenda items, including a multi-part insurance code bill later in the session.
