The Fairhope City Council added and approved an Eagle Scout service project to renew a failing fence at Colony Nature Park.
During the work session Will Sawyer presented plans to remove the broken prairie fence along the park’s main road and to install timber posts with rope infill similar to the Fairhope Pier style, with an additional short fence near the disc-golf course where vehicles had previously driven through the field. Sawyer said the project area is primarily along the main road with a short stretch by the disc golf course, and told the council he hoped to begin within the next month.
Council response and approval
Council members praised the Eagle Scout effort and asked staff to place a resolution on the meeting agenda. The council later moved and seconded a motion at the regular meeting to approve the Eagle Scout service project; the motion passed on a voice vote.
What the approval covers
The action approves the scope presented (removal of existing failing fence, installation of new post-and-rope style fencing at the highlighted park edges and a separate fence near the disc-golf area). The council directed staff to add a resolution to the consent agenda so the project can proceed when the scout is ready.
Ending
Council members thanked Will Sawyer and his family for participating. The transcript indicates the council expects a formal resolution to be added to the next meeting packet to memorialize the approval.
