The Zoning Board of Appeals for the Town of Danvers voted unanimously Feb. 24 to approve a finding under Table 1 of the Town of Danvers Zoning By-law allowing a personal training facility at 48 North Putnam Street to expand into the remainder of the building.
Michael Giuliano of Eagle Brook Engineering, representing the applicant Ralph Giangi Georgorio, presented a parking plan the firm prepared. Giuliano said the property contains three structures: the fitness facility (just under 3,000 square feet), a residential building with three units, and an existing garage used for storage by an HVAC contractor. Using those square-foot figures and the zoning schedule, Giuliano said the required parking was 13 spaces and the proposed plan shows 16 spaces.
A board member moved to issue a finding that the proposed expansion to the personal training facility is not substantially more detrimental to the neighborhood than the existing structure. The motion, as recorded in the hearing, includes a condition that the applicant stripe the parking spaces so users know where to park. The motion was seconded and the board voted in favor with no recorded opposition.
Board members asked no substantive follow-up questions during the hearing. The applicant agreed to stripe the parking “as soon as the weather gets bad” (i.e., when conditions allow), and the board made that a condition of the approval.
No public testimony opposing the expansion was recorded online or in the room.
