Wichita County commissioners reviewed the 2025 property-insurance renewal questionnaire and a linked inventory spreadsheet during Friday’s meeting, and staff asked elected officials to verify building, equipment and mobile-equipment listings before submission.
County HR/insurance staff said the insurer’s form includes building values, mobile equipment (front-end loaders, tractors, mowers), and attachments such as generators and fencing. Commissioners raised questions about how items are categorized — for example whether standalone items such as fencing or propane tanks appear as separate equipment or as part of a building’s contents — and whether that double-counts value for premium calculations.
Specific items discussed included radio/communications towers (the packet lists towers with site names and coordinates, including an entry for 600 East Jefferson), a lease for the Bob Scan tower that staff expects to vacate, and the new maintenance shop at the jail site that needs to be added. Staff said the insurer had provided a visual (not printer-friendly) inventory and agreed to circulate a spreadsheet (Excel) that commissioners could review and annotate.
Staff set a submission timeline: the completed renewal questionnaire and any edits should be returned by the end of the month. Commissioners asked staff to provide the Excel version to make review and precinct-level edits easier, and to highlight where items such as towers or attached equipment are currently recorded.
Ending: Staff will redistribute an editable spreadsheet for review and commissioners will return edits by the stated deadline so insurance coverage and premiums can be finalized.
