The Springfield Board of License Commissioners on Feb. 26 approved the minutes of its Feb. 12 meeting, concluded an administrative review of an incident at Nathan Bills with no violations and heard personnel and procedural updates, including the introduction of the board’s new licensing attorney, Robert Schmidt.
At the start of the meeting the commission voted to approve the Feb. 12 minutes. Commissioners recorded affirmative votes from Commissioners Cade, Ramirez and Espinosa. During the administrative review the commission discussed an incident report concerning an arrest at Nathan Bills on Feb. 9 for disorderly conduct, assault and battery, and trespassing; the commission found no violations and voted to take no action.
Robert (Bob) Schmidt introduced himself to the commission: “Hello, everyone. My name is Bob Schmidt, and I'm starting in this role,” he said. The commission noted that the prior licensing counsel, Attorney Bonavita, had attended the Feb. 12 meeting and that Schmidt will attend future meetings in that role.
A staff member reported that a resignation had been received that day from a commissioner identified in the transcript only as “Peter” and that the resignation was effective immediately. The staff member said they would confirm distribution of the resignation notice to the whole commission.
The staff also alerted commissioners that temporary COVID-era permissions to hold public meetings via Zoom were set to expire Feb. 28 unless extended; the staff member said they would confirm the governor’s decision and notify commissioners.
The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn at 6:04 p.m., which passed with recorded affirmative votes by Commissioners Cade, Ramirez and Espinosa.
