Kim Shield, PTO president at Lake Norman Charter, told the board the PTO will host an Oscars-themed staff luncheon on Feb. 28, catered by Maggiano's, and is moving some 2025–26 grant communications earlier so teachers can plan over the summer.
"We're gonna be rolling out the red carpet to celebrate our star studded staff," Shield said, describing the luncheon.
Shield also described pilot volunteer roles for Key Club members that have helped fill lunchtime volunteer needs at the high school and reported that a new vegetarian Indian vendor from Huntersville began deliveries this past Monday and has already been popular.
At the elementary campuses, Shield said recent family events — including a community night at Urban Air and the annual "donuts with a grown up" — drew large turnouts. Tickets are on sale for the father-daughter dance March 1.
Shield said the PTO is running a midwinter spirit-wear push to move existing inventory and will coordinate with campus principals about grant timing, which will vary slightly across the three campuses to match local needs. The board did not take action on PTO items; Shield concluded by inviting questions.
