Joe Shantz Hall, executive director of the Jefferson County Library Foundation, and Jared Johnson, public services manager for Jefferson County Public Library, updated residents on the Conifer branch relocation and fundraising at the Conifer Area Council meeting Feb. 20.
Shantz Hall said the new library will be located near the Safeway on Main Street and outlined naming‑right donation tiers ranging from $1,000 kiosks to $25,000 to fund extended hours and express (after‑hours) access. He said the Conifer library recorded more than 50,000 borrowed items and more than 35,000 visits in 2023 and named several donors who had already funded spaces (children’s area, community room, study room, teen area and art walls).
Jared Johnson said the project is in the permitting process with Jefferson County and that permits have been submitted but not yet returned. He said the library board had a meeting planned the next day to review high‑level design information, invited residents to attend in person at Lakewood Library or virtually, and directed people to jedcolibrary.org for the latest building and program information. He also described continuing programming at the interim high‑school location, including family activities and a March 9 craft program that requires registration.
Nut Graf: The foundation is actively fundraising for naming rights and expanded hours at the new Conifer branch while county library staff work through permitting; residents can support with donations or use interim programs while construction permits are processed.
Additional details: Shantz Hall described permanent donor‑wall recognition for gifts of $100–$999 and said specific naming opportunities (children’s area, community room, study room, teen area, reading alcove, kiosks, laptop checkout) had varying availability; he said $25,000 had been committed toward extended hours and express access technology. Johnson advised that all up‑to‑date program and building information is posted on the library website.
Ending: Foundation and library staff said they would be available after the meeting to discuss naming opportunities and that program registration and project updates are available at jedcolibrary.org.
