Cadet leaders presented a series of briefings to the Board of Visitors highlighting internal efforts to integrate new cadets, strengthen the honor system and support club sports.
Regimental command and class leadership: Brian Pritchard, regimental commander and an English major from Thornton, Colorado, told the board that the corps has focused on leadership continuity and preparing younger cadets for future roles. "We want to build out that class and set them up for success for the next four years," Pritchard said, describing efforts to improve preparation and trust between classes. Turner Gallo, first class president, said the class has taken initiatives this year intended to benefit later classes and described an ongoing athlete/non-athlete divide the corps is working to close; he also praised the new athletic director and said he expects progress over the next few years.
Honor court and workload: Jack Roberts, vice president of the honor court, briefed the board on the courts operations in the absence of honor court president Elijah Alberti, who was at an honor conference. Roberts said an assistant-prosecutor role can require "upwards from 20 to 30 hours a week" in an average week depending on caseload and semester timing; he said the court is emphasizing education for the corps and plans live demonstrations of court process for the corps.
Club sports, ROTC and discipline: Major Rubinstein (commandant staff) and several club-team captains briefed the board on the competitiveness of club sports (including nationally ranked rugby and an active ice hockey program) and on advisor and budget arrangements for club teams. Committee reports also described a "carrot and stick" approach for cadets on conduct probation: certain thresholds of demerits trigger visible sanctions, while sustained low demerit counts can allow cadets to remove themselves from probation.
Context: board members praised the cadet leaders for their presentations and acknowledged the time commitment cadet leaders make while completing studies and preparing for commissioning.
Next steps: cadet leaders will continue to brief committees as needed; the honor court plans to convene and present additional education and demonstration events to the corps.
