The Warren County Board of Education approved a statement of work with NIET (National Institute for Excellence in Teaching) on Feb. 20 to use a state ATSI grant for targeted school improvement at West Elementary.

Administrators had earlier established a new fund after receiving a state ATSI grant (amount cited in the budget discussion as $50,000). Grant Swallows presented the NIET scope of work and asked the board to approve the partnership; the motion to accept the statement of work was moved by Mr. Johnson and seconded by Mr. Caldwell and passed by voice vote.

Board approval authorizes district staff to contract with NIET and begin the agreed‑upon interventions at West Elementary. The district indicated the funding to cover NIET’s work is included in the federal/state budget amendments approved earlier in the meeting.
