Judge Brooks, speaking for the probate office, said the county had been scheduled to collect about $18,000,000 in property taxes and that, as of the meeting, 361 parcels were unpaid. He told commissioners: “We're trying to shoot for no taxes to be sold at that time.”

Brooks asked the public to consult the Covington County website for the current list of delinquent parcels and said county appraisers would place notices on structures where possible to encourage payment. He also said signs cannot be posted on undeveloped land, and that the office was using multiple notice methods ahead of the sale.

The office mentioned a mid-May tax-sale start time; the transcript referenced both May 16 and May 17 at 9:00 a.m. as possible start dates. The office asked residents to check the county webpage for the definitive schedule and parcel list.
